Get Involved

Become a member

By joining the Association, you will be able to raise matters of concern to you, your family and your neighbours and reap the benefits of having these addressed by a legally constituted body. Suburbs that have active and energetic Residents Associations protect the value of their properties and enhance the quality of life in their communities.

If you are a paid-up member, you are able to attend all GRA meetings and vote on community issues at our AGM. Prompt payment will ensure that our subcommittees can continue with their initiatives. It’s a small investment on your behalf to ensure that we are able to protect and improve our suburb and your home!

The ongoing success of the GRA is very much dependent on the active participation and involvement of community members. We believe it’s important for the GRA to have as many members as possible in order to have a strong and united voice in local affairs and the resources to represent the interests of the community on important issues. The GRA does not receive any public funding and is funded solely by MEMBERSHIP FEES. We urge all residents and business owners to join, as a large, active, and supporting member base will enable the GRA and committee to engage in more activities, initiatives, and projects for the benefit of Greenside and its residents.

To extend our voice and influence, the GRA is also a member of the JoburgCAN.

Become a volunteer

If you are not yet a member, we would like you to join us in our campaign to make this community clean, safe, and enterprising. By being active citizens, we can increase our property values, improve economic activity in our community, and have well-maintained public spaces.

We have 7 sub-committees that implement projects and initiatives to improve and protect our suburb. These sub-committees are: Greening, Heritage, Finance, Planning and Compliance, Security, Infrastructure and Communications and Marketing. Learn more about there work here.

We can only achieve this positive change if we have broad-based support and involvement from the residents and businesses of our community, Contact the GRA for more information.

Initiate a Block Improvement Project

The GRA is a small team of volunteers running several large complex initiatives that affect large parts of the suburbs. But we know that many streets or blocks have very specific hyper-localised challenges that they are dealing with. For this reason we encourage smaller groups of residents to come together and initiate their own Block Improvement Projects.

These ‘green shoots’ projects can be extremely powerful in uniting neighbours and implementing small-scale solutions that improve your quality of life and protect the value of your homes. Read about the successful Cruden Bay Block Project here.

If you would like to initiate a project of this kind we are able to help provide guidance and some limited support. Get in touch with us to find out how we can support you in getting your project off the ground.
